Since last month, I've made a deliberate effort to immerse myself in books outside my usual comfort zone. So far, the books I've chosen have been genuinely rewarding, and I can already sense a significant shift in my reading preferences throughout this summer.
I am halfway through Book Lovers by Emily Henry, and I can't get enough of Charlie Lastra. Libby is truly the best sibling anyone could ask for. I find Nora Stephens to be highly relatable as a character. (Yes, I am a workaholic who has given up on love, romance, and all that jazz.) This book has been on my to-be-read list since June, and I'm glad I finally picked it up. Thanks to my childhood friend, Sindhu, for the recommendation (persistently) since I discovered Emily Henry.
I've never read any of Stephen King's books because I thought he only wrote horror novels, which I'm not a fan of, and they look intimidating. However, I recently stumbled upon Billy Summers in a charity shop, and I'm very excited to read it because it's a crime fiction novel. I've been wanting to explore this genre for a while, so I see this as the perfect opportunity to dive into the world of crime thrillers by starting with the King himself.
Consider Me by Becka Mack is the first and only hockey romance I've ever finished reading. None of the other ones that went viral interested me, as they were all about college sports. However, Playing for Keeps got me hooked. The second book, Play with Me, is one of my favourite sports romance books. I enjoy the banter among the boys and the women, and the found family trope in this series. I never liked Jaxon until he became a cat daddy in one of the previous books. So, I'm excited to read his book, Fall with Me.
I've recently started exploring young adult books. I was influenced by Youtuber, Haley Pham, to purchase this book. Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barner is a YA mystery book, and it's not something I'd typically read.
What will you be reading this September as we enter the colder autumnal season 🍂?
